The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” John 4:28-29 (NIV)
People like to hear good news almost as much as others like to share it. Perhaps the news is a good deal discovered at the store, a new delicious restaurant nearby, or a chance meeting that brought joy. Whatever the good news, we share with others out of the overflow of our joy and happiness.
The woman at the well had some good news to share. She met man named Jesus who showed her love, brought forgiveness, and set her on a new path in life. She didn’t know much, but she knew that Jesus had transformed her life in just a few minutes. She couldn’t help but share the joy in her heart.
An effective testimony can be a short as ten seconds. Give a brief description of what your life was like before meeting Jesus. Then tell how you met Jesus and he spoke into your life. Finally, ask a question that gets the other person thinking.
Here is an example.
This morning I was worried about everything I had to do today. I was feeling overwhelmed. So, I took a few minutes to ask Jesus to calm my heart and guide my steps. After praying, I felt a peace that helped me throughout the day. Everything worked out better than I imagined. Have you ever had an experience like that?
Prayer: Jesus, fill me with your joy and peace until I overflow. Help me to share your good news with those around me. Amen.
